Women We Admire: Melva LaJoy Jones

Give us four words that describe you:

Authentic. Creative. Bold. Poised.

What was your first job?

Goodness I can't remember but it was either cleaning or being put to work on my mother's events with the National Political Congress of Black Women.

What do you do now?

I make event dreams come true on the daily as the Owner of LaJoy Plans, boutique DC based events management firm which is the love and joy of my professional life.

What are you reading now?

Valerie Jarret's biography, Finding My Voice: When the Perfect Plan Crumbles, the Adventure Begins is my most recent read. I am getting ready to read Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

What inspires you?

My father Melvin who lives with dementia. He can't tell you what day of the week it is or other things most people know but every day he gets up and gives life his all.

What is one intention you have for the next three months?

Being bold in my life and serving others every chance I get.
