The REAL Benefit of a Retreat

When we publicize our Tide Risers retreats, we often focus on the more tangible aspects of the experience: luxurious accommodations at beautiful venues, Equine-Facilitated Learning, massage, creative masterclasses, and more. But what is by far and away the most important part of the retreat experience is community-building.

This past weekend our retreat at Shore Hall Manor House and Gardens was evidence of the power of building relationships amongst strangers. With a range of industries represented – doctors, c-suite executives, marketing consultants, etc. – our guests hailed from South Carolina, Paris, New York, Connecticut, Essex, and Worcestershire. Professional networks were established, differing perspectives were shared and appreciated, and – perhaps most importantly – friendships were forged.

Time and again I see the benefits for my clients who dedicate time and energy to the work of community-building. Transactional networking has its place, but isn’t usually effective enough to sustain a career over the long term. Thoughtfully created experiences like ours, however, lead to genuine connections that build the type of relationships that benefit us all.

Besides the obvious outcomes our retreats provide, like new business partnerships, job opportunities, and new client relationships, we can also find fresh perspectives, renewed clarity, and unexpected learning.

Join us at our next retreat!
